Darian Dares - part 4
They head back to Harmony's. Her mama was at her night job so Harmony made pizza rolls and the three of them hung out and talked shit for awhile. All the sudden Marquez says, "help me clean this up bro,” and before Darian can comprehend what's going on, they all are scraping serial numbers off the audio equipment from the black duffel bags and cases.
You know…sometimes you have no choice but to just sink into the situation...just accept what is happening and make the best of it. Darian was realizing now the impact of his getting into the car tonight.
By trusting Harmony and getting into her car, he was part of the felony they just committed on this little trip. Breaking/entering/stealing minimum 2 years prison. Ain’t that some shit? You not even trying to get in trouble, just hanging out with friends - the very people who say they have your back - and they just drag you into stuff. Like they was so busy thinking about themselves and their problems, they didn't stop to think how their actions affect you. None of that matters now, what's done is done.

All in all, he doesn't necessarily think this situation he's in is because he is doing it for Harmony's affections – maybe in the beginning but now he needs to think forward. Be a man, be strong, suck it up and make the best of it.
Darian thought, "Well, if I'm here and I didn’t really have a choice in it anyways, then I have to trust that I have been put here for a reason." The deed was done, no point in dwelling on that. Maybe he could make a cut of the sale of this equipment and help his mamma pay the electric bill, buy some groceries.

Now, Darian sits alone in the basement, feeling sick about what he participated in the other night. He had to start thinking about his broken family and figure out a way to keep them from losing everything.
Grams always says,"Let go and let God." He's been searching for a sign from God all day and no word. He feels hopeless and helpless. He's bout outa minutes on his phone and there's no internet, no TV, since there's no electricity at his house.

Text from Harmony: “DARIAN! I just found out that stuff we stole the other night belongs to this scary ass drug dealer. He knows Marquez was behind it and he’s looking for us!
Darian knew he had to talk to someone. Someone he could trust to play it straight. Two years ago he got in trouble cause of some anger issues. The social worker hooked him up with this mentor.
They got along great and Darian felt hopeful and safe around this person. He hadn’t returned the mentor's phone calls in awhile. He just didn’t want to be a bother constantly talking about all his depressing shit. Nothing ever changed.
He always thought that a good man, a strong man, didn’t need help. Maybe he wasn’t a strong man after all.
The situation his was in right now was overwhelming.
On foot, it would take Darian about a half hour to get to his mentor’s house. It was worth it. Sometimes just talking with someone that doesn’t judge you is enough.
